Entropy

Entropy- (noun) "lack of order or predictability; gradual decline into disorder."

And such is life. Has there ever been any "order" anyway? Mount Shasta has taught me loads about unpredictability, and it has been nothing short of a miracle. Every new day I awaken with a new form of gratitude I had not known in the past. The mountain has taken shape inside of me, like a chrysalis, no one can quite predict when it will grow it's wings and take it's unique form of flight.

Two weekends ago my parents, Joyce and Tracey, blessed us with their presence here in Northern California. We had an amazing time exploring the area, swimming, drinking from the headwaters of the Sacramento River, eating, drinking, laughing and being generally merry in each other's company. I will share some pictures below because words can't quite do my elation justice!

Do you see them swimming? My mom called it heaven :)

I would also like to share this quote, which was obviously written by a man, a long time ago (sorry! My belief) because of the reference to "power" which in regards to this post titled entropy, is an illusion.
But the quote is meaningful to me nonetheless...  "The greatness of a man’s power is the measure of his surrender.” -William Booth

Surrender is the ultimate act of love. There is no way to hold on, so why struggle? We were never actually in control to begin with! When I let go I find the freedom to feel it all.

All is love.

Diving into the Relics of Antiquity

What the hell does this mean?

Well, as I've set some time aside to meditate this morning, particularly on a bird, standing as still as my gaze, its lizard-esque feet wrapped around the top branch of a tree—a certain type of filtering took place, and I decided to take on, or pick up some of the pieces I've left behind.

Yes, that's you, the abandoned reader of our now antique blog. The once relevant and virtuous postings are now just relics, some slightly meaningless, others, well...you can discern.

Another thing I picked up was another antique, of sorts. My folder labeled "ENV Atmosphere," which I've lugged around with me for the past year or so. The green folder, a reminder of my college degree, academia, long, long stints of sitting, and, uh, some really great realizations about the environment and the world.

Truly—stashed in this folder was a list of websites that have proven to be surprisingly interesting. Many of those 100-level college courses were aimed to crack the egg of the students mind. That's the beauty of knowledge—we can choose to either let it seep in, or not.

In this case, it was one of those weird situations where this remarkably well-traveled and experienced man would show up drunk to our course titled "The Future," where he'd tell the same joke every class, and each time we'd all awkwardly giggle in hopes that he wouldn't realize that he'd lost his mind.

The purpose of the class was to look at trends from the past, in order to "predict" the future. We all knew, based on a very solid trend, that Mr. Reiner would show up and tell us some boisterous lark, and assign us to look at these websites that looking back at—wonder if he found half of them through some dark-web secret society (okay, probably not, but some of this stuff is pretty esoteric).

Basically, it's a sort of gaggle of links to content directed at academic and higher-educated minds that feel some sort of connection with the future. In other words, if you can read, and you think you will exist in the next moment, you may be interested in checking some of these out:

When I do bad, I feel bad. That's my religion.”

The one who loves you the most

Madeleine and I are in Mt. Shasta, doing a Yoga Teacher Training through the winter. We love it here :)

Some great lyrics by Singer/Songwriter Brett Dennen:

When the sky is falling from above you
And the wind is raging from the coast
And you want someone who truly loves you
I will be the one who loves you the most

When the masquerade and burlesqued balls
Become too ordinary to boast
You complain about the parade and curtain calls
I will be the one who loves you the most
Yeah, I will be the one who loves you the most

When the women with their stolen graces
Don't invite you to play host
To their daughters with fake faces
I will be the one who loves you the most

When all the debutantes desert you
And all the doorways are all closed
And the harlequins have hurt you
I will be the one who loves you the most
I will be the one who loves you the most

When your suitors sneering swank beside you
And leave you hollow like a ghost
And you just want somebody to confide to
I will be the one who loves you the most
I will be the one who loves you the most

See, when you forgive your imperfections
And you've auctioned all your clothes
And look to see your true reflection
You will be the one who loves you the most
You will be the one who loves you the most
You will be the one who loves you the most
